-General Information and Responsibilities-


- The board of public works is responsible for the following:
- Keeping Track of all bonds issued to contractors in the City of Terre Haute.
- Check bonding requirements for contractors working in the city right of way.
- Prepare and record paperwork for City Licenses.

- Prepare and post agenda for all meetings
- Prepare and distribute packets prior to meetings
- Type and index minutes
- Prepare correspondence relating to all items in the agenda

- Issue sewer agreements.
- Issue sewer acceptance.
- Prepare residential sewer tap on agreements.
- Prepare and calculate commercial sewer taps on agreements.
- Prepare sewer inspection permits.

- Issue street cut permits to individual companies and all utility companies working in the right-of-way.
- Bill all utility companies monthly for permits.
- Keep track of funds collected.

- Process handicap-parking applications, notify of approval or denial, bill annually, and keep track of funds collected.
- Process loading zone applications, notify of approval or denial, bill annually and keep track of funds collected.

- Organize specifications for all bids in the City.
- Prepare advertising for all bids, schedule advertising and opening.
- Receive recommendations for approval or denial.
- Notify appropriate companies of acceptance or denial.
- Receive performance bonds.
- Pay invoices for all advertising.

- Issue dog and cat licenses. Keep track of funds collected, pay human shelter monthly for animals picked up and dropped off by the Terre Haute Police Department. Order all supplies needed for licensing.

- Keep a current vehicle inventory for all departments.
- Organize all titles; notify insurance company of changes in inventory.
- Pay insurance company.

- Keep track of bonding for City Officials
- Record all official bonds.
- Pay invoices for bonds.

- Budget funds for School Crossing Guards, FICA, Medicare, Group Health, Unemployment, Police and Fire Retirement, Insurance, Premiums on Official Bonds.

- Issue quarterly advances for Police, Fire, Cemetery, and Mass Transit.

- Pay Jamax monthly for trash and yard waste removal.
- Pay Cinergy monthly for street lights, signal lights, and subdivision lighting.
- Report Street lights not working to Cinergy
- Pay water bill for City Hall.
- Pay for gas lighting in Heritage Subdivision.

- Prepare street acceptance and notify Plat Mapping of all streets accepted in the City.

- Prepare and Schedule all street closings and parade permits, check insurance and prepare indemnity, notify street, police and engineering of approval, bill for police assistance when necessary.

- Order and pay for all office supplies and forms necessary to run office Notarization work. Answer and follow up on all phone conversations and assist citizens that come to counter for assistance.

- Notify Board of all requests for Transfer of Funds in various City Departments.

-Set up new and renew old Street Seating in the City of Terre Haute.
