Building Inspection Division
The Building Inspection Division
consists of five inspectors. They are responsible for
inspection of new construction and existing structures within the
City. The Division inspects new construction including building,
electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and sewer connection. We
assure that all required permits and licenses are purchased and that
all work is in compliance with standards and codes adopted by the
State of Indiana. This Division also inspects dilapidated
structures and structures involved in fires for condemnation.
After property is condemned, we work with property owners to either
repair or demolish the structures. The City of Terre
Haute Zoning Ordinance is also enforced by these inspectors.
The Weights and Measures Inspector is responsible for checking all
commercial scales and meters within the City. This includes gas
pumps.
